Staying Safe In Disney World

May 11th, 2008 by admin

If you’re traveling to Disney World, you want to have a magical, wonderful vacation. Luckily, Disney staff do everything possible to ensure that that happens. However, there are some safety tips you want to look into to ensure that your vacation goes through without a hitch. Although Disney is extremely safe, you want to take these precautions to make sure that you spend no time worrying and lots of time having fun:

1. Don’t leave small children unattended. Have an adult with a small child at all times. One possibility is to break up your family or travel group into smaller groups so that everyone gets to see what they most want to experience.

2. If you’re traveling with teenagers, it’s OK to have them wander around by themselves. Disney is quite safe.

3. As in any place with crowds, keep a lookout for your wallets and ID. Tuck your wallet into an inner pocket, or distribute your money over a few pockets. With your ID, do the same thing. Make sure your wallet is not easily accessible when you’re distracted and looking up fireworks.

4. Have a place to meet. If your group gets separated, come up with place where you can all meet. Make this place easy to find. Teach children how to spot a Disney attendant and have children ask a Disney attendant for help if they get lost.

5. Your biggest danger might be the heat. Florida heat and sun can cause heat stroke, sun burns, and a general feeling of weakness. Make sure that you drink lots of water, wear comfortable and light clothing, and take breaks in the shade when the sun gets to be very warm. If you do feel unwell, ask for help from a park attendant right away.

6. If you have trouble walking, there are wheelchairs, strollers, and other aids available. Be sure to ask a Disney park attendant.

7. If you are booking online or trying to find Disney World discounts online, make sure that you’re dealing with a reputable company. For example, if you’re buying tickets from a broker, make sure that it is a reputable third-party company that will provide you with actual tickets. The last thing you want is to arrive at Disney World only to realize that you have paid money for something that is fake.

8. Exercise more caution in Orlando than in Disney World. If you do travel outside of the Disney areas in order to do some shopping or in order to experience some more of Florida, you will need to exercise more caution. Keep in mind that Disney attendants aren’t positioned all over Orlando to help you.

9. Avoid flashing large amounts of money around. Even though Disney’s safe, this may prove to be a temptation for thieves. If you’re shopping at jewelry stores or at stores that sell higher-end items, consider using your credit card or smaller bills in order to stay safe. If you’re staying at a Disney resort, you may even be able to charge your purchase to your room and have your purchase delivered to your room at the end of the day.

How To See The Most While Traveling In Disney World

April 29th, 2008 by admin

Disney World is huge, and many visitors despair at seeing only a tiny fraction of all the possible attractions, rides, and events. If you want to see everything that Disney has to offer, the truth is that you will have to return every year. Even then, rides and attractions change so often that you will always be exploring a new park anyway. If you want to see a lot without exhausting yourself, here are some sips for making the most out of your Disney time:

1) Look for Disney World discounts online as well as deals on cars, travel, and accommodations. The less you spend on vacation, the longer you can stay.

2) Develop the right attitude. Rather than trying to see everything, focus on seeing all the things you really want to see. Don’t worry about what you didn’t see. You only depress yourself, and you suck the joy out of all the exciting adventures you actually had.

3) Learn before you go. There are many books about Disney, as well as web sites, and even friends and family who likely have been there recently. Make sure that you research as much as you can about the rides, attractions, and things you want to see. List the things that you want to see, things that would be nice to see, and things that you care about seeing. Have each member of your family or group make a similar list. That way, you know which items you must see it in order to be satisfied with your vacation. Talking to other people and researching Disney World before you go also allows you to figure out timesavers. Tips on the Internet can tell you how you can get from one theme park to another in the fastest possible way, while a friend may have useful advice for finding the best deals on dinner.

4) Find ways to unwind at the end of your day. If you’re exhausted the end of your first day at Disney World, you will have a hard time waking up early the next morning, in order to experience all that you can. Take a bath at the end of your first day of Disney, light some Votivo candles, and relax with some music. Then, go to bed early so that you can get going early the next day.

5) Realize that Disney World employees are there to make your day fabulous. Don’t despair that you will be spending time walking around, waiting in line, or grabbing a meal on the go. Disney works overtime to assure that all these moments are magical. While waiting in line, characters may approach your group, or attendants may be having a special show to entertain you while you wait. If you do need anything, park employees are always standing by to help. Don’t hesitate to ask if you’re in trouble.

6) Budget when you will travel. Traveling during the off-season allows you to enjoy less crowds, which means shorter waiting lines. Plus, there are often special discounts during less busy times. However, keep in mind that there are special events and attractions available during peak times — such as summer vacation and Christmas.

7) Plan your route. If there are several rides that you want to experience all in the same general area, make sure that you visit them on the same afternoon the morning. There’s no point in spending a lot of time wandering from one end of the park to another, only to return to get on another ride. Figure out where you are in the parks, and make sure that you try all the entertainments in that one area.
